Production has officially begun on Warner Bros. Pictures upcoming Ocean’s 8 in New York and the first photos from the film’s set have debuted online featuring stars Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett! Check them out in the gallery below!

Ocean’s 8 also stars Sarah Paulson, Rihanna, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling and Awkwafina.

Gary Ross (Free State of Jones, Hunger Games) will direct and produce the film, which will be a continuation of the George Clooney-led films, with Bullock playing Danny Ocean’s ex-con sister. With help from her right-hand woman (Blanchett, playing the equivalent of Brad Pitt’s Rusty), she’ll form a team of thieves to steal a necklace from the Met Ball in order to frame a villainous gallery owner. A cameo by Clooney has been nixed for the time being, although he could potentially appear in sequels.

Olivia Milch and Ross wrote the screenplay for the Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures project. Ocean’s Eleven remake trilogy filmmaker Steven Soderbergh is producing. Susan Ekins is executive producing.

Look for the all-female Ocean’s Eleven spin-off to hit theaters on June 8, 2018 a date it currently shares with Paramount’s Transformers Bumblebee spin-off.

Dungeons & Dragons Movie Gets 2021 Release Date

For four decades, Dungeons & Dragons has been an integral facet in the world of gaming, with its name alone becoming synonymous with tabletop roleplaying games. In hopes of cashing in on the recognizable brand, Paramount Pictures announced that it will be releasing Dungeons & Dragons on July 23, 2021.

No other details about the film have been announced, but this will be the second attempt at bringing the franchise to life in a live-action format.

In 2000, Jeremy Irons and Marlon Wayans starred in the first film based on the game which was received quite poorly. On review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, the film sits at 10% positive reviews from critics while only 19% of users gave the film a 3.5 or higher out of 5.

The film's critical consensus reads, "Critics say this movie has a cheap look and is badly directed. Despite the presence of talented actors, the performances are really bad, and additionally, some people are offended at Marlon Wayans' character, calling it a racist throwback to black stereotypes."

Dungeons & Dragons wasn't the only gaming related adaptation to be underwhelming, as films like Super Mario Bros. and Wing Commander were both disappointments with fans and critics alike.

Another adaptation of a well-known RPG property hit theaters last year with Warcraft. The film struggled to find an audience, possibly due to its 28% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Audiences who did check it out, however, enjoyed it more than critics, with its audience score on the site being 77%.

There might not be a filmmaker attached, but True Blood star Joe Manganiello has expressed how interested he is in bringing the property to life.

“Last year with a playwright I went to Carnegie Mellon with, I actually made a draft of a film, and now we're talking to all the right parties,” the star revealed to MTV.

“I had a two-day creative summit with the Wizards of the Coast...we had like a two-day summit about where the movie could go or TV series, products, synergy, the whole deal.”

The star pointed out that another successful fantasy series can make the film possible.

“Obviously there's a spectacle. There's dragons, breathing fire and lightning," he added. "That's the biggest draw in Game of Thrones...[but] what makes a great fantasy or superhero movie is the human aspect. It's gotta be about something. We root for those characters in Game of Thrones. Fellowship of the Ring was about friendship and this undying love for your friends and doing anything for your friends, and I think that's something people can identify with.”

“I think when a movie is about something human and real emotionally, people are wanna go see it," the star confessed. "And then if you get some dragons and breathing fire, I mean, hey.”

Fans will decide if the project was worth pursuing when Dungeons & Dragons hits theaters on July 23, 2021.

7 cryptocurrencies to watch in 2018 if you’re on the hunt for the next bitcoin

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/7-cryptocurrencies-to-watch-in-2018-if-youre-on-the-hunt-for-the-next-bitcoin-2017-12-12

A massive bubble? A passing fad? A scam?

Whatever the cynics out there want to call bitcoin, its BTCUSD, +1.61% insane rally continues to befuddle the haters and enrich the crypto faithful.

Fear of missing out can have a powerful — and dangerous — influence on financial decisions. It’s playing out in a big way right now as many of those who’ve missed out on the digital currency craze kick themselves and frantically search for the next bitcoin — or something even better.

But does that even exist and is it worth the risk to invest?

While he’s still extremely bullish on what lies ahead for bitcoin, George Tung, co-founder of Cryptos R Us and a veteran of investing in cryptocurrencies, says there’s still plenty of upside opportunity in lesser-known coins.

“Will we see another coin with a market cap exceeding bitcoin?” he said. “Yes, I believe that is definitely possible within the next three to five years.”

Hitesh Malviya, the crypto consultant behind ItsBlockchain.com, says that bitcoin is obviously the place to be during bullish explosions like the one we’re seeing right now, but, in the long run, the big gains in cryptos lie elsewhere.

“The alts industry is new and it will take at least a few years to become mainstream,” he said, adding “we can see 10x gains — like bitcoin this year, in many alt-coins.”

But with more than 1,300 alt-coins — basically any digital currency that isn’t bitcoin — to choose from, it’s no easy task uncovering potential winners. Tung uses a four-part screener to determine which alt-coins may be worth a flyer.

1. Study the team behind it. “Where do they come from? Have they been involved with other cryptos before? Are they backed by anyone, and what kind of experience do they bring? The alt-coins that have done the best and have the highest market caps have the most proven teams.”

2. Take a look at the why. “How useful is this? Are they trying to solve a problem that doesn’t need solving? Some alt-coins coming out are simply ridiculous.”

3. Determine where they are in the process. “I look at the road map of the alt-coin and see how far along are they. Do they have a test-net or a beta? Are there new features being released? Are there soft or hard forks coming up?”

4. Assess the valuation. “Since alt-coins get pumped and dumped a lot, I look at the current market evaluation and see if they are priced right. A lot of alt-coins are priced way too high and I tend to stay away from them.”

With that in mind, here’s an overview of seven cryptocurrencies that analysts have said may be worth watching in 2018. Like bitcoin, all cryptocurrencies are subject to extreme volatility and risk -- so if you intend to invest, it’s well worth doing your due diligence and reading up more on each one.

Litecoin (LTC)

Market cap: $17.78 billion

Performance in 2017, as of Dec. 11: +4,800%

Who created it? Former Google GOOGL, +1.37% employee (and now notable star in the crypto universe) Charlie Lee

The skinny: Litecoin has been described as the silver to bitcoin’s gold.

Created by Lee back in 2011, it’s billed as an alternative to bitcoin. Without getting too wonky, Lee essentially aimed to cut the amount of time required to confirm new transactions and tweak the way bitcoin was being mined to ensure anybody could participate. “My vision is people would use Litecoin every day to buy things. It would just be the payment method of choice,” Lee once said.

Litecoin is also designed to produce more coins -- it has an 84 million coin limit, versus bitcoin’s 21 million. About 54 million coins are currently in circulation, versus bitcoin’s current 16.7 million circulating supply.

Monero (XMR)

Market cap: $4.84 billion

Performance in 2017: +1,930%

Who created it? Much like bitcoin, Monero’s creator is anonymous.

The skinny: The appeal of Monero? Anonymity. With Monero, the details of every transaction, including sender, receiver and size, are recorded on a public ledger, but are obfuscated to reportedly make them untraceable. Use Monero, and, in theory, there’s no way for anyone else to connect the dots between the sender, receiver or size of the transaction.

Sound like an appealing coin to cybercriminals? It is. The hackers behind the global ransomware incident WannaCry, which infected 230,000 computers running Microsoft Windows, demanded payments in Monero.

That said, there are many more cases recorded of hackers demanding bitcoin, and Monero’s backers say the coin’s biggest use cases aren’t illicit. It would appeal, they say, to corporations who want to move money around without competitors knowing, or to anyone who simply doesn’t want their balance and transactions made public, such as someone doing business in a foreign country who doesn’t want to become a target.

Monero recently said 45 musicians, including Lana Del Ray, Sia and Dolly Parton, will be accepting Monero. Many will even offer discounts to those who pay with it.

There are about 15.5 million XMR in circulation, and, unlike bitcoin and Litecoin, Monero doesn’t have a fixed coin supply.

Beat 4 Beat - 9th Wonder or Pete Rock

Beat for Beat

I just got this thread idea I wanted to try out. Only one beat allowed per post, but post a beat from the other producer better than the beat in the post above yours. Instrumentals only please. You don’t necessarily gotta start with their best work, just post something you think at minimum is a better beat than the previous posted. Almost like spades.
===========
(READ)
the main point of saying one beat per post is so that the beats posted fall in sequential order alternating between one Pete Rock beat and one 9th Wonder beat at a time, like a battle (In a battle they only get to play one beat before the other guy answer back with his beat.)
it doesn’t matter who post the next one up, but whoever post first let that one ride till someone answer back with the next one after that..and each poster can contribute more than one beat in the thread, but let it only be one poster at a time keeping in mind that the beats must alternate between Pete and 9th. Again we posting a single beat by either Pete or 9th that is harder the previous beat posted, alternating back and forth between Pete and 9th beats.

I want to see if this can become a like an ongoing series...not sure how successful it can be..i'll have to make improvements as we go along

Also go ahead and vote while you at it.

I’m gonna start this off with a beat from Pete even though I think 9th is technically better than Pete at this point.

Denzel Washington: Don't Blame The Prison System, 'It Starts At The Home'

$

In “Roman J. Israel, Esq.” Denzel Washington plays an idealistic defense attorney whose beliefs are tested when he joins a new law firm.

The Oscar winner says making the film did not make him more cynical about the justice system and, when asked about the prison-industrial complex, the “Malcolm X” star offered a surprising take.

“It starts at the home,” he told reporters at the film’s downtown New York premiere. “It starts at home.”

When prodded to expand on his answer, the 62-year-old Mount Vernon native replied: “It starts with how you raise your children. If a young man doesn’t have a father figure, he’ll go find a father figure.

“So you know I can’t blame the system,” he continued. “It’s unfortunate that we make such easy work for them.”

Washington came into the project with an insider’s edge on writer-director Dan Gilroy; he spars at the same gym as Jake Gyllenhaal, who starred in Gilroy’s critically acclaimed 2014 film “Nightcrawler,” and the actor gave Washington a full briefing on Gilroy.

“I got to learn a little bit about Dan in advance, and to see the great collaboration they had together,” Washington explained. “So it was easy, it was seamless and it was invigorating.”

(Washington declined to answer questions as to whether he or Gyllenhaal would win in the boxing ring).

The Oscar winner has played a lawyer before (“Philadelphia”), but his reasons for taking on this role weren’t so much because he wanted to return to a courtroom.

“It really didn’t have much to do with that,” he said. “It was just that Dan wrote a good script, a good story, the guy happened to be a lawyer. Law wasn’t the thing that attracted me to the story.”

Roman Israel — a legal savant — is certainly a departure for the actor. Washington told the Daily News that he based the character’s eccentricities on those of a friend’s son who is on the autism spectrum.

“He knew all the laws and everything, so I did a lot of research on Asperger’s, and the spectrum, and went in that direction,” he revealed.

Washington says he is not worrying about what his fans will make of this film.

“I just do what I do,” the “Training Day” star said. “I can’t be concerned. I don’t know what they’re going to think, so that’s not something that comes into my head. . . . If it’s something I’m interested in, then I do it if I can, and we’ll find out what they think about it.”

Chicago PD Have Paid Out Almost $100 Million In 2 Months Over Police Misconduct

$

0

The city of Chicago has agreed to pay $20 million to settle a code-of-silence lawsuit brought by the families of two young men killed in a fiery drunken driving crash caused by an off-duty police detective, sources told the Chicago Tribune.

The agreement to pay $10 million each to relatives of Andrew Cazares and Fausto Manzera was reached in dramatic fashion earlier this month after it was revealed that key documents involving an alcohol-fueled bar fight in detective Joseph Frugoli’s past had been improperly withheld.

The amount of the agreement was not made public, but sources have since confirmed the figure to the Tribune. The settlement must still be green-lighted by the city’s Finance Committee before going to the full City Council for a vote. That could happen as soon as next month.

If approved, it would mark yet another massive payout for the city in a police misconduct suit. In the past two months alone, nearly $100 million in judgments have been assessed against the city for police-related cases, including a record $44.7 million jury verdict in October for a man who was shot by his childhood friend, Officer Patrick Kelly, in an off-duty incident. Earlier this month, the City Council approved a $31 million payout for the “Englewood Four,” who each spent some 15 years in prison for a 1994 rape and murder before DNA linked the crime to a convicted killer.

(AllHipHop News) Financial issues continue to plague Bryan "Birdman" Williams, the co-CEO of Cash Money Records.

According to a lawsuit filed against the hip-hop mogul, Birdman is in danger of losing his $14 million dollar Miami mansion, because he is defaulting on a huge loan.

According to reports, Birdman borrowed $12 million dollars from a company called EMG Transfer Agent in 2015 and put up his lavish Miami estate as collateral.

Unfortunately, Birdman is falling behind on his payments, and has defaulted on the loan.

Birdman is currently trying to sell the mansion, which owned by super producer Scott Storch, who sold it to RockStar energy drink boss Russell Weiner for just $7 million, when Storch was a cash crunch.

Weiner flipped the mansion, which has 9 bedrooms, 17 bathrooms, a huge pool and breathtaking views of Miami, to Birdman for $14.5 million in 2012.

The same year, Birdman's brother and Cash Money co-CEO Slim, purchased the biggest house in South Florida from the founder of Mattress Giant, for $7.5 million dollars in cash.

Unfortunately for Birdman, his house is still on the market with a $16.9 million dollar asking price as he fights off his creditors.
