I know a lot of bay area rap is regional but who are some of your favorites (if any) from out that way.

1. Mac Dre - Dre was hands down one of the most charismatic personalities to come out the Bay, even before his death he had a legion of fans, his own slang, style, all of that. I know shock G made the line but Mac Dre embodied "straight gangsta mack".

2. E40 - 40 has managed to stay relevant for decades which is something that is very difficult to do especially in todays rap game. he's brought so much to the table from a game perspective alone (when I say game I mean street advice more or less) the entertainment value is second to none, 40 can give you a heartfelt song, some gangsta shit, a party record, you name it. he doesn't just put words together because they sound good, he legitimately has substance to his music.

3. Too $hort - Todd Shaw is the one who put Oakland on the map nationally when it comes to rap music, for that alone he deserves credit. The pimp persona was basically like a 70's blaxpoitation movie over a funky baseline.

4. Mac Mall - The 2nd emcee (after Mac Dre) to take on the "Mac" name after Michael Robinson the original Mac who was a pioneer in bay area rap and hustler in the early 80's. Mac Mall had that distinct voice and flow, Tupac took a liking to him and directed his first video. Mac Mall can give you the street tales, love songs, and he can also get political too. his versatility is his best musical attribute i'd say.

5. The Jacka - The Jacka was a bay area legend of the 2000 era, one of the last to come and go. he spit mostly introspective street tales over laid back mobbed out beats. he started out with c-bo's mobb figaz and created one certified bay classic at least with "the jack artist".
