I was reading Will Smith latest interview on a blog and he dropped some gems about love and relationships.
In the comment section someone noted that he should "write a book on REAL black love"
Now while I don't knock anyone's hustle, and I think Will would have a lot of good insight on long lasting relationships and commitment
Why is it that so many of my fellow black people think there's some magical blueprint to a perfect relationship?
I hear so many chicks (and some men, but fewer) talking about "wanting that Bey/Jay relationship" or fawning over the Obamas seemingly perfect relationship...
Do they not realize that relationships are built? The Carters, the Obamas, and the Smiths all worked for years to get to where they are in their relationships, and I'm sure all of them went through their respective issues. Just recently it was made public that the Obamas filed for divorce once in the past.
Why is it that so many black people believe in this false archetype of what a relationship is supposed to be? It's really not helping anyone except for the authors of those stupid relationship books (Steve Harvey).
