WHY IS BEFORE I SELF DESTRUCT SO UNDERRATED??

Damn, I was listening to that Coke Boyz 2 tape by French and Max B earlier and they remixed that Crime Wave jawn of Self Destruct and it made me come back to the album. 50 really never dropped any wack shit.. Power of the Dollar, GRODT, Massacre, BISD... Curtis was the closest to mediocre and even that had bangers. And a plethora of classic mixtapes.

It's like yall take his song writing ability for granted. Not one weak track on this album. I know he wrote this album at his grandmother's house in the Southside and I get that vibe when I listen to it. It takes you to Jamaica Queens. Fif came with a vengeance on this jawn. Tell me you can listen to "Death to my Enemies" without wanting to wet someone up, no homo. Listen to "Stretch" and see if it doesn't make you want to hit the streets and hustle immediately. The way he constructs his verses is pretty brilliant to me. Not from a rhyme scheme or wordplay standpoint but he has a creative way of conveying words.. sort of like Prodigy back in the day.

Also this album had some hot hit singles. "Do You Think About Me" and "Baby By Me". I know this project didn't do numbers but I think it's because most fickle fans turned their back on 50 at this point because he wasn't hopping on trends and they were in their feelings about 50 dissing their favorite rapper at some point. It's unfortunate because this lack of support is probably the reason we haven't got an album out of Boo Boo in 4 years. I think the quality should be appreciated, nonetheless. 50 just does it for the love of music and legacy now because he's obviously set for life. Looking forward to his next album.
