Here's A List Of Every Upcoming Space Mission For The Next Twenty Years - And Some Of Them Are Unbelievably Awesome
It seems like almost every week there's a new exciting space mission announced, from fanciful journeys to Mars to serious scientific expeditions.
But how can you keep track of it all? Why, if only someone had compiled every interesting space mission of the next 20 years into a handy timeline. Wouldn't that be nice?
Well, wish no more, because that is just what we've done. Below, you'll find a list of every rocket launch, spacecraft rendezvous, manned mission, and more you should have on your radar.
Feel like we've missed something? Post your suggestion in the comments and, if it's worthy, we'll add it to the list.
Note that all dates are subject to change.
2017
March – The Planetary Society's Lightsail 2 – their second demonstrator of solar sail technology – is expected to launch into orbit.
September 15 – NASA’s Cassini mission around Saturn will come to an end.
Autumn – Private company Asgardia, which wants to create the first “space-based nation”, will launch its first unmanned satellite.
November – SpaceX will perform an unmanned test of its Crew Dragon vehicle in orbit. A manned flight is scheduled to follow in May 2018.
Cassini has been in orbit around Saturn since July 1, 2004. NASA/JPL-Caltech
December – Russia's long-awaited Nauka module, also called the Multipurpose Laboratory Module (MLM), is scheduled to launch to the International Space Station (ISS) at some point this year. The latest reports say it has been delayed to December.
December – By the end of the year, Blue Origin is expected to begin manned launches to space, ahead of paid space tourism flights.
December – A new NASA planet-hunting telescope, the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS), should launch by the end of the year.
December 19 – A new European planet-hunting telescope, the Characterising Exoplanets Satellite (CHEOPS), will be ready to launch.
TBD – XCOR’s Lynx spaceplane is set to begin test flights. The plane will seat two people on short hops into space.
TBD – Private Arizona-based company World View Enterprises aims to start sending paying customers on high-altitude balloon rides, spending two hours at an altitude of 30,500 meters (100,000 feet) for $75,000.
TBD – China will attempt to return samples from the Moon with its Chang’e 5 mission. This will be the first lunar sample return mission since 1976.
TBD – Two competitors in Google's Lunar XPRIZE, Moon Express and SpaceIL, are expected to launch to the Moon and attempt to land unmanned probes, the first ever private lunar landings. Several other companies also have launch contracts.
TBD – SpaceX's new heavy-lift rocket, the Falcon Heavy, should launch for the first time.
The Falcon Heavy will be the most powerful rocket in operation. SpaceX
2018
January – Proposed launch date for Inspiration Mars, a private mission to send two people on a flyby of Mars. It’s highly unlikely the mission will ever happen, however.
February – NASA’s Juno mission, which is currently studying Jupiter, is scheduled to end. A recent issue with the spacecraft, however, has meant the mission may be extended beyond 2019.
April – The European Space Agency (ESA) will launch BepiColombo, Europe’s first mission to Mercury.
May 5 – NASA will launch its delayed InSight lander to Mars. Touchdown is expected on November 26. The unmanned probe will study the interior of the Red Planet.
May – SpaceX plans to launch its first unmanned mission to Mars, which will also be the first private Mars mission.
June – First unmanned test of Boeing's Starliner crew capsule. A manned flight will follow in August 2018.
July 31 – NASA’s Solar Probe Plus mission will launch, the first mission to fly into the Sun’s upper atmosphere, approaching within just 8.5 solar radii of the “surface”.
July – Japan’s Hayabusa 2 spacecraft will arrive at its target, the asteroid Ryugu. It launched on December 3, 2014, on its way to the asteroid, and will attempt to return a sample to Earth in December 2020.
August – NASA’s OSIRIS-REx spacecraft will arrive at the asteroid Bennu, returning to Earth in September 2023 with a sample of between 60 grams and 2 kilograms (0.1 and 4.4 pounds) – the largest sample returned to Earth since the Apollo missions.
OSIRIS-REx will fire bursts of nitrogen to loosen material from the asteroid. NASA
October – NASA’s huge new rocket, the Space Launch System (SLS), is scheduled to launch for the first time. It will send the Orion spacecraft on a three-week mission around the Moon, although rumors abound that one – or both – of the SLS or Orion may be scrapped.
October – NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), the high-profile successor to the Hubble space telescope that has experienced numerous cost overruns and delays, will finally launch.
December – India will launch its next mission to the Moon, Chandrayaan-2, which will include an orbiter, lander, and rover.
TBD – Japan will launch a new Moon mission called SELENE-2, a successor to 2007’s SELENE mission. Like India’s mission, it will consist of an orbiter, lander, and rover.
TBD – China will aim to become the first nation to land a probe on the far side of the Moon with its Chang’e 4 lunar lander.
2019
January 1 – New Horizons will perform a flyby of an object in the outer Solar System, a Kuiper Belt object called 2014 MU69.
October – The Sierra Nevada Corporation’s unmanned Dream Chaser vehicle, a space plane about a quarter the size of the Space Shuttle, will launch for the first time atop an Atlas V rocket.
Late 2019 – Japan’s unmanned Smart Lander for Investigating Moon (SLIM) is expected to launch. It will be able to perform a precise landing by analyzing the ground during its approach.
TBD – 2019 may be the year that Virgin Galactic finally starts sending paying customers into space.
TBD – Asteroid mining company Deep Space Industries may launch its first unmanned spacecraft to an asteroid called Prospector 1.
Deep Space Industries wants to one day mine asteroids. Note, this is a future concept, not Prospector 1. DSI

Your Thoughts On Beatboxing?
I remember circa 1984/85 when Beatboxing was a new and novel idea. But after a handful of songs the novelty wore off. The Fat Boys went totally commercial (which is another story altogether. They had the talent to be a legitimate group but their manager saw them as a gimmick).
Anyway, Eventually Dougie Fresh stopped beatboxing and it was only every so often that somebody would beatbox.
I've heard people like KRS One say that beatboxing is one of the elements of Hip Hop but honestly I could live the rest of my life without hearing another song with beatboxing the original version of Ladi Dadi notwithstanding.

‘Ice Cream Killer’ Is So Dangerous, She’s Headed To A Men’s Prison

A Spanish murderer dubbed the “ice cream killer” is so dangerous, she’s being moved to an all-male prison to serve out her life sentence, according to a new report.
Estibaliz Carranza, 38, earned the chilling nickname after she shot her boyfriend and ex-husband to death in 2008, cut up their bodies with a chainsaw and hid them in the freezers of her ice cream store in Vienna, Austria.
The Mexican-born Spanish national stored the body parts in ice cream tubs filled with concrete and disguised the smell with air fresheners.
Now, she’ll spend the rest of her life in an all-male prison in Asten, Austria, because she shows an “advanced reduction of the relevant dangerousness,” according to the Mirror.
The prison, which houses 91 men, allows inmates to freely move around and cook their own meals together. Prisoners can also use a lounge area with a TV.
Carranza is one of 13 women to be transferred to the prison.
She carried out the crimes because the men failed to get her pregnant.
She lied to neighbors who heard the sound of the chainsaw from her shop, claiming that the noise was actually a new type of ice cream machine.

The I Watched Recently Thread *possible spoilers*
Steven Spielberg once said that he does "Movie Orgy" every now and again where he will watch several films in over a week's time. Well I recently did this thanks to Redbox and Blockbuster express where films are only a Dollar. From April 6th to 16th over 10 days I watched 18 films, here are the movies I watched, mind you I haven't seen any of them
The Hunger Games (Theater)- C+
Captain America B-
The Hangover II- C
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo- B+
Thor- C +
Contagion- B -
The Killer Elite- D
Hanna- B -
Green Lateran- C +
J. Edgar- C -
In Time- C
The Adventures of Tin-Tin- B -
Real Steel - C +
Drive - A
Colombiana - C+
Zodiac (Finally finished Ficher's Whole catalog) - B +
Vantage Point- C +
Gone Baby Gone- A
It was pretty cool to catch on on so many movies I hadn't seen. Overall, "Gone Baby Gone" and "Drive" had the most impact.

NBA Commissioner Wants Players to Ignore Their Personal Beliefs, Carry On White House Tradition...
http://atlantablackstar.com/2017/01/15/nba-commissioner-wants-players-to-ignore-their-personal-beliefs-carry-on-white-house-tradition/
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver believes even after Donald Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20, players who oppose him should still carry on the tradition to visit the White House post-championship.
Silver made the statement while speaking to The Guardian in London before the Global Games match between the Denver Nuggets and the Indiana Pacers Thursday, Jan. 12.
“If a team came to me in the current situation and asked for my view on whether they should go, I would say go, whether it’s President Obama or now President-elect Trump,” Silver said. “Donald Trump, the private citizen, I don’t know well, but I have known him for many years as a fellow New Yorker. He has been to many Knicks games over the years and I’ve been to several games with his daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner. I have no reason to believe he won’t continue to be supportive of the NBA.”
But for many NBA players, it’s not a matter of Trump supporting the league but his divisive political rhetoric. Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard Iman Shumpert told Complex in November 2016 that he would not visit the White House under Trump’s administration.
“I can’t get caught up in the racial, sexist bull—- he’s got going on,” Shumpert said. “That’s his personal thing.”
And when the Cavs visited the White House that month, forward Richard Jefferson declared on Snapchat that the team would be the last to carry on the tradition begun 54 years go.
“I don’t plan on forcing them to do anything that will be viewed as political in nature,” Silver told The Guardian of player’s personal politics. “But I think as we have done historically, we encourage players to have those conversations with each other, with us and become informed on the issues.”
Silver echoed such support in July 2016 when the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx and New York Liberty protested the deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile by police and the aftermath. However, he would have preferred that the teams not modify their uniforms in the process.
“I actually think it demonstrates that these are multidimensional people,” Silver said. “They live in this society and they have strong views about how things should be. So I’m very encouraging of that.”
But when it came to whether or not NBA could hop onboard San Fransico 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s national anthem protest, Silver expressed his preference that all athletes remain standing rather than sitting or kneeling.
“It would be my hope that they continue to stand for the national anthem,” he told ESPN in October 2016. “I think that is the appropriate thing to do.”

Government to Take Half of Prince's Estate, $100 Million, on Taxes
Nearly half of Prince's estate, worth an estimated $200 million, will go to Uncle Sam because he left no known will when he died last April of an accidental painkiller overdose. The music icon did nothing to shelter his assets from the taxman, so roughly $100 million will go to the government for federal and state taxes.
Experts say Prince could have prevented this by setting up an estate plan with trusts to benefit any relatives and charities he chose while leaving little if anything to be taxed. Instead, the value of Prince's estate is now subject to a federal tax of 40 percent and Minnesota's tax of 16 percent. With exclusions and deductions, the total amount will be closer to 50 percent.
Prince's six siblings are expected to equally split what's left. His estate has until Saturday to file an estate tax payment. They can seek an extension for filing the return but can't delay the first payment. Since Prince's estate isn't very liquid, it helps that they don't have to pay the entire amount at once. A recent inventory listed about $110,000 in cash, about $830,000 in gold bars, but no stocks or bonds. It also listed real estate worth about $25.4 million. That inventory doesn't include his entertainment assets, which are still being valued.
It's not clear whether the IRS and Prince's estate will agree on the value of his music catalog because it's difficult to put a dollar value on such assets. If it's similar to Michael Jackson's situation, it indicates a long court battle, as Jackson's court case finally goes to trial in Los Angeles next month over more than $700 million in taxes, interest, and penalties.
