TLDR so I'm posting some good points, feel free to read the rest and tell me what you think. I'm kind of going through this right now.

Look for Regular Expenses You Can Trim Away

The first big step is to trim your monthly expenses. Reduce that cable bill and that cell phone bill. Get rid of unused memberships, like gym memberships or country club memberships. Look for ways to tone down your home energy use. Start a carpool or start using public transportation. Start cooking at home more and eating out less. All of these things will ease the monthly pressure on your wallet, allowing you to stop feeling like you’re falling behind and instead start getting ahead a little.

Cap Your Non-Essential Spending Each Month
We all spend some money on things we don’t really need. Instead of just spending as opportunities arise, put a cap on that spending each month. Allow you and your spouse a cash allowance each month and agree that your discretionary spending comes from this cash and this cash alone. Make the amount lower than what you normally spend, but not enough lower that you’re tempted to cheat. Then, when you’re used to the amount, consider lowering it a bit more until you find a sweet spot of savings and fun.

As You Gain Some Breathing Room, Move Towards Paying Bills Right When They Come In

One thing that many people living paycheck to paycheck waste money on is late fees. You’re a couple days late on a bill because you were waiting around for your paycheck, so you’re dinged for an extra five bucks. It used to happen to me all the time—and it was a serious money leak. The best solution for handling this as you move towards financial stability is to start paying your bills as soon as they come in–that way, you avoid the late fees by a mile. Later on, as you get more comfortable, you can develop your own bill-paying routine–I pay mine monthly–but the best way to handle things just as you’re getting some cash built up in your account is to pay bills ASAP.

Don't Carry more Than One Credit Card with you

Leave the rest at home. The only reason you should be carrying a credit card in your pocket is to cover emergencies or for specific purchases. Thus, carrying more than one credit card in your wallet is not only an identity theft concern, it’s also temptation to spend more than you should.
I personally have three credit cards. Two of them are for specific purchases only, so I leave them at home. The other is my general use card, and it’s the only one that resides actively in my wallet. Because I recognize that I need to keep a healthy free balance on it for emergencies, it makes the temptation of the plastic much lower.

Uncle Ben Carson: Slaves Were Immigrants Who Came Here and Worked Really Hard ‘for Less’

WASHINGTON ― Ben Carson made his debut as secretary of Housing and Urban Development Monday by telling agency employees about the virtues of the “can-do” American society. Carson said this value system was best exemplified by slaves, whom he characterized as immigrants who came to the United States with very little and worked very hard.

“That’s what America is about,” Carson said. “A land of dreams and opportunity. There were other immigrants who came here in the bottom of slave ships, worked even longer, even harder for less. But they too had a dream that one day their sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, great grandsons, great granddaughters might pursue prosperity and happiness in this land.”

One HUD employee who was in the room for Carson’s speech said there was no audible reaction to Carson’s slave ship remark, although she was shocked by it and immediately recognized that it’d be a problem. She added that overall, people at the agency are excited about their new boss.

The Senate approved Carson, a neurosurgeon with no experience in housing policy, to the job last week.

In 2013, Carson said Obamacare was “the worst thing that has happened in this nation since slavery.”

“And it is in a way, it is slavery in a way, because it is making all of us subservient to the government, and it was never about health care,” he added. “It was about control.”

Carson also spent part of his speech to agency employees Monday talking about the human brain.

“[E]very human being, regardless of their ethnicities, or their background, they have a brain, the human brain,” he said, later adding, “You can’t overload [the brain]. Have you ever heard people say, ‘Don’t do that or you’ll overload your brain’? You can’t overload the human brain. ... So we need to concentrate a little less on what we can’t do and a little more on what we can do.”

People Say Indie>>>Major But Lets Look At The Videos

$

Everybody says that indie is the way to go because you get more royalties. An artist signed to a major might get $.25 per unit sold whereas an independent artist who presses his own CDs and sells them at shows might get $5 per CD after recoupable expenses. So in that scenario the independent artist wins.

But there's something that a major label can do that you can't do yourself, namely music videos.

Anybody can get a camcorder and go out on the street with his homies and shoot a video, then go home and edit it and upload it to Youtube. But a major label can make a high budget video with professional lighting, professional models, a set designer, costume design, professional lighting and the whole 9 yards.

Here's an old video I came across last night. It occurred to me that this video must have been made by a professional video company. This isn't some independent rapper with a camcorder

Never Scared - Bone Crusher

Here's a Young M.A. video called Body Bag. This isn't to throw any shade at Young M.A. I actually like the song but the video is lacking. I could post a gang of low budget videos but this is one that came to mind.

Body Bag - Young M.A.

My point is that major labels can make better videos than independent artists. And the Bone Crusher Video is 15 years old. They were using 15 year old technology but its still miles ahead of the Young M.A. video.
