We all know Escobar got some heat coming for us 4th quarter, Damian got some shit dropping soon as well but let's not forget how great DR was.
Distant Relatives is one of the most amazing collaboration albums I've ever heard. The shit is some next level shit b. No one knew how it would turn out after the original classic Road to Zion collaboration but they delivered! Sure it's been reggae/rap collaborations in the past but this album can't even be placed in a genre. They had so much chemistry on the project and Damian was able to hold his own lyrically. Critics of Nas' production selection were silenced. Listen to the drums on Tribes at War.. Rappers don't be on shit like that. Although it sold only a mere 53k first week, it managed to stay atop the reggae charts for over a year and they made a killing on shows. It was fun to watch them tour for damn near 3 years and grow so close together. They seem like they developed a genuine friendship that complimented each other in several ways. Nas stepped his stage show up because of Damian.
After it was all said and done they hinted at a sequel to the project. Now it had been 4 years since dropped a solo so people were fiending so at the time it might not have seemed so appealing. His hunger was sparked and now he has another one coming.. But after everything settles down maybe in a couple years I would love to hear another one.
I always hear people talk about they want a collabo albums between Nas and AZ, Nas and Premier, Nas and Face and Cube, Nas and Common, even Nas and Jay... But honestly, I don't care for none of that shit. Nas and Damian got the perfect contrasting styles that compliment each other. I think it could be even better than the first.
So what do yall think? Should they do another one some time in the future??
