American man claims land in Africa so daughter can be a princess
Abingdon (United States) (AFP) - Fathers often see their daughters as royalty. But a few months ago, when Emily Heaton said she wanted to be a princess, her father Jeremiah quickly found her a kingdom.
Many little girls would have been satisfied with the wooden turrets and ramparts of the castle in the community playground of rural Abingdon, Virginia, where the Heatons live. But Jeremiah was thinking bigger.

Last month, he planted a flag in a tiny parcel of uninhabited land on the border between Egypt and Sudan on June 16th, Emily's seventh birthday. The Kingdom of North Sudan was born.
"With a child you don’t want to ever tell them they can’t be something they desire to be, and at age six, her frame of reference for the world was to be a princess," Heaton told AFP.
"So I told her that she could be."
Heaton started researching unassigned territory that he could claim as a kingdom. At first, the search was futile.
"Initially I looked at the Antarctic continent, which doesn’t have a population… but due to the Antarctic Treaty, there are no new claims that are allowed to be made," he explained.
So, his Internet research eventually pointed him in the direction of Bir Tawil, a few hundred square kilometers (miles) of uninhabited desert nestled between Egypt and Sudan, long neglected in stalled border negotiations.
It wasn’t long before Heaton was on a plane to Africa.
"I didn’t see the pyramids, I didn’t see Luxor, I did not see Alexandria. It was specifically to go to the border area and make the claim on Bir Tawil. I’m probably one of the few people who’ve been to Egypt and not seen the pyramids!" he said.

once helped out my a female friend's family by taking care of their cat for a week. Every day for a week, I would go over there and snoop around their house. I found my friend's diary, and proceeded to read the entire thing. I used this information to get her to like me, and she is currently my wife.
I faked the last two years of college education. My parents put so much pressure on me I couldn't handle it (I was suffering from severe depression and anxiety) so I faked it all. Lied to everyone. Made up fake transcripts. I just got my foot in the door in my desired field thanks to a friend as they hired me as a subordinate. This place only hires college grads but no one double checked my credentials since I was recommended. My hopes is that if I need to find another job I'll have been at this place long enough to get it by experience alone (I work for a very prestigious company). I'm not bad at my job. I'm actually quite good. But my fear is eventually I'll hit a wall and the lie will come to light. No one has known this for the better part of a decade.
It's a relief to finally say it "out loud." I can't even tell those I love. My silence is my prison.
There was a girl who I had a crush on the moment I saw her on my college campus. She ended up dating a douchebag dude a few weeks later. I happened to end up sitting in a study room with him and a few mutual friends. He talked about how he didn't think she was that attractive and how he liked other girls. I wrote the girl an anonymous email using one of those websites telling her about the things I heard and how the guy was a dick. She ended up breaking up with him after she found out he was cheating.
The girl is now my girlfriend of 6 months. She has no idea (and is sitting across from me in the library). I've never told anyone this

Indictment: Gang leader ordered hit on baby from jail

A Georgia gang leader is charged with ordering a retaliation hit from behind bars that killed a baby boy, officials say.
Kenneth Eric Jackson, who the DeKalb County District Attorney says is the highest ranking member of the Sex Money Murder Bloods gang in Georgia, was indicted on murder and gang charges for his alleged role in the May 2014 shooting death of nine-month-old KenDarious Edwards Jr.
Allegedly acting on Jackson's orders, officials say several masked gang members forced their way into a Decatur home and opened fire on the child, his mother, his grandmother, and a family friend as the women cowered in a bathroom.
"You're talking about a nine-month-old helpless child, and three women who tried to protect that child," Cedric Alexander, DeKalb County Chief of Police, said at a Tuesday press conference.
The three women were all shot and wounded, Alexander said. The infant was killed.
The District Attorney's office says Jackson used a contraband mobile phone while incarcerated at Autry State Prison to order the hit in retaliation for the death of another gang member, allegedly killed by the child's uncle.
"This was a ruthless act ordered by a gang leader looking to spread fear and intimidation," DeKalb County District Attorney Robert James said in a statement.
Jackson, also known as "KG the God," and two alleged gunmen -- Marco Watson and Christopher Florence - are charged with malice murder, felony murder, multiple counts of aggravated assault and violation of Georgia's Street Gang and Terrorism Act.
A third alleged gunman, Devin Thomas, pleaded guilty to murder, the District Attorney's Office says. The indictment called him a co-conspirator and mid-level ranking member of Sex Money Murder.
The gang is known to kill and commit violent crimes in Georgia, reports CBS affiliate WGCL.
"We are at war with organized street gangs," DeKalb County District Attorney Robert James said at a Tuesday press conference. "...This is a war that we have to win. This is a war we intend to win."

Reason Confessions: When did your rap dreams die???
We can't all be winners.
I'm sure a good chunk of the posters here grew up with hip hop in their lives since birth or as long as they can remember. For others that came to rap in their teens or later, you must have a passion that ties you to the culture all the way to the present day.
With that passion comes your own spin and interpretation, which may have led you to pick up the mic or make some beats. However, since none of us are poppin like that, I can assume that a lot of us said fuck it at some point.
For me, I grew up listening to rap, but didn't really get on the mic until some of my friends started rapping around 17/18 and started throwing me on tracks we recorded in a basement. I was trash at first, but was able to convince myself for a little while that I was getting better for a year or two.
My dreams of being a rapper got shot down when I recorded in a professional studio for the first time. I heard my voice on a track and realised I wouldn't even listen to my own shit. I was done that same day.
One of the guys around me that was also rapping wanted me to ghostwrite for him, but this was 2003/4 and I was on some purist shit. Joke was on me though since a lot of rappers I fucked with were doing that too.
I can't be the only dude on here with struggle bars. Fess up Reason!

High School Student, 15, Is Caught On Snapchat Having Sex With 25 Boys In Campus Restroom
A 15-year-old high school girl has allegedly been caught on camera having sex with multiple boys in a girls' bathroom on campus.
At least one student has been disciplined for 'inappropriate activity' after police reports suggested 25 boys were seen going in and out of the bathroom at South Fort Myers High School in Fort Myers, Florida.
The girl reportedly told the school's principal she 'had sex with a number of the boys', while fellow students claimed the group 'locked themselves' in and filmed the acts on camera.
Footage of the incident was sent round school on Snapchat, according to Fox4now.
Deputies have confiscated a cellphone amid unconfirmed reports of the recording.
Police reports stated one girl was inside the bathroom and 25 boys were seen going in and out of the bathroom, according to NBC-2 News.
Student Petislin Cadeau, 18, told Fox 4, that he heard some of the football team was involved.
'I heard a video was around but I never really saw it or anything. It just like circulated around,' Cadeau said.
Another student, Alex Bailey, added: 'A bunch of football players went into a room with a girl and had sex with her, and a bunch of the football players were suspended.'
A spokesperson for the Lee County School District said a student - or students - were disciplined in line with the student code of conduct, after 'inappropriate activity' occurred in a girls' bathroom on campus on Tuesday. It happened out of school hours on Wednesday morning.
A young woman picking up her friend after school said even she had heard of the situation, claiming the students had 'locked themselves in the bathroom'.
Lisa Purnell said: 'I've just heard that they were all filming it and I just think it's really wrong. That shouldn't have happened. They locked themselves into the bathroom.'
Kevin Ware, a parent, urged that a 'thorough investigation' needed to be carried out.
He said: 'Where were the teachers? Just a thorough investigation needs to be done. It's terrible. I feel for the little girl, I feel for her parents. It's just sad.'
While another parent, Eric Struble, who has two 15-year-old girls at the school described the incident saying: 'Shock. Disbelief. Concern. Sad.'
He added: 'It's our job to protect our children and to teach them right from wrong.'
