Rapper cancels Charlotte concert following death threats
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- One of the most popular hip hop artists in the country has canceled concert stops in Charlotte and Greensboro for this weekend. The cancellation comes on the heels of death threats but no specific reason was given for the cancellations.
A Maybach Music Group concert tour headlining Rick Ross was scheduled to appear Friday in Greensboro and Saturday at the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte. Rappers Wale and Meek Mill were scheduled to appear as well.
The threats stem from the Gangster Disciples, who have a beef with Ross. The North Carolina Chapter recently put out a YouTube video warning him to stay out of Charlotte.
Tickets can be refunded starting Friday, Live Nation Entertainment group said in a statement.
In the rap video the Disciples are upset because Ross mentions the name of the founder of the street gang and uses the Star of David to promote himself. That symbol is used by the gang.
"I think fans should be concerned. I think the parents should be concerned because you never know," said Paul Scott on Wednesday. Scott is a minister from Durham who is also a hip hop journalist.
Scott has been highly critical of the violence sparked by rap artists.
“Hip hop does not represent the real street. The commercial Hip Hop that Rick Ross promotes represents Wall Street and Wall Street cares nothing about the loss of human life if they can make a dollar."
Deon Cole is a friend of Ross and is also the Assistant Programming Director for Power 98 Radio in Charlotte. He didn’t believe that fans had anything to worry about.
Cole believes that one day Ross and the Disciples will work out their problems.
Scott says he wouldn’t take the chance and if his kids asked to go he would say no.
"No one took the Tupac Notorious BIG beef seriously until they were both dead."
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police released a statement Wednesday before the cancellation, saying officers would remain vigilant to ensure safety..

Katt Williams Unretires from Stand Up
Just like Michael Jordan, Jay-Z, Evander Holyfield and Brett Favre ... comedian Katt Williams is officially UNRETIRING ... just four days after retiring.
Earlier this week, a very emotional Katt announced his retirement on a street corner in Seattle ... insisting that he was, "kinda done."
But now, Katt's management team says he's undone ... telling us, "Katt is definitely NOT retiring. He will be moving forward with the tour ... Friday is Texas, Saturday New Orleans, and on to Alabama."
Management adds, "The reason why he made remarks was due to him feeling totally disrespected by all the things that happen to him in the city of Seattle. He had a moment where he felt very unappreciated. He now just wants to move forward from those unfortunate events and give his fans outstanding shows from this point forward."
Katt has also not retired from dealing with court ... TMZ has learned Williams was just charged with 2 counts of 4th degree misdemeanor assault in Seattle stemming from a bar fight this past weekend.
As we reported, Katt was arrested Sunday after allegedly threatening the bar manager with a pool cue and refusing to leave the establishment ... then later throwing a cigarette at a woman's eye.
Police claim Katt also threw a rock at the woman's car as she left.
Of course, this is just one incident in Katt's long string of bizarre behavior recently, including slapping a Target employee and leading Sacramento police on a wild three-wheeled motorcycle chase.

Why are people so aloof to politics ?
Based on a lot of observations, particularly of the behavior of the youth, but also on adults as well. Inspired by this exact post:
What is wrong with having a concern for politics? I do not understand why the general consensus is that politics are boring or don't matter. This is how poor leaders end up in positions of power.
Do you have young people in your life that just don't give a shit about politics? Do you know why it is?
It does not make sense to me how we can have a section of the forum dedicated to men drooling over scantily clad females receive more participation than a section that deals strictly with the ideas and events that shape our world today.
I miss this lupe. he wasn't on that extreme political shit, and when he wanted to rap about an issue, he spit about it and that was it, didn;t have none of these antics on twitter or whatever. Aspiring model/married mother of three, 31, solicited sex from three underage teenage boys (W/Pics)

A wannabe model and married mother of three allegedly engaged in explicit sexual acts with at least three underage teenage boys.
Anna R. Welsh, 31, of Nehalem, Oregon, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with two counts of using a child in display of sexually explicit conduct, one count of third-degree sodomy and three counts of third-degree sex abuse.
Her victims are believed to be 15 to 16 years old.
Welsh is accused of having sex with at least one of the teenage boys, and also sending and requesting pornographic images of the three via electronic means, police say.
She is married to military veteran Jon Welsh with three children of their own, according to a news report from last year.
A person who knows Welsh told MailOnline that she and her husband were having marital problems before her scandal was reported.
The accused 31-year-old is on the board of directors of New Discoveries Preschool in Nehalem and is listed as the 'president' of New Discoveries on the Bizapedia website online, the Tillamook Headlight-Herald reports.
She has an MBA from Washington State University, her LinkedIn profile says.
Welsh last appeared in the news in 2011 after placing second in the Nike Women’s Marathon in San Francisco, California.
'It has opened up a lot of doors for me,' said was quoted as saying at the time.
Welsh keeps a personal profile on the modelling and photography website Model Mayhem, which contains seductive photos of her wearing lingerie.
A working photographer, who asked to remain anonymous, told MailOnline that Welsh had hired him on three separate occasions to take photos of her and paid him several hundred dollars for the shots that were never published until now.
Her bio on Model Mayhem reads:
‘My name is Anna I am an athlete and beginning fitness model. I am a promo model with AC Model and Talent. I have also done, boudoir, bikini and other types modeling and would like to expand my portfolio into more fitness based modeling, artistic and print work.
‘I love to be fit, active, smile and laugh. I LOVE the sunshine, my family, dancing and sports of all kinds.
Welsh is being held in Tillamook County Jail in Oregon on $119,000 bail, according to prison officials.
