The biological mother of star quarterback Colin Kaepernick has expressed her longing for a relationship with the son she gave up for adoption 25 years ago.
Heidi Russo, 44, a nurse in Denver, made the heart-wrenching decision to place her baby in the care of the Kaepernick family back in 1987.
Colin now plays for the San Francisco 49ers and is fast becoming one to watch on the field. After getting his first NFL start against the Chicago Bears during Monday Night Football last month, Kaepernick scored two touchdowns, massacring the Bears' tough defense and drawing high praise from the 49ers head coach.
Ms Russo has been following her son's growing celebrity status from the stands at football matches but longs for a deeper relationship with him and often comments on his Twitter profile.
She regularly congratulates him on his success on the football field and even bizarrely on his diminishing body fat.
Kaepernick tweeted last year: 'Body fat just taken and I'm at 7%... Let's see where I end at'.
Ms Russo quickly responded: 'Wow!!! Probably 4 or 5%? Keep workin' hard Colin!'
Although she has had contact with Colin in the past, her son seems reluctant to build a relationship. Colin was born on November 3, 1987 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Ms Russo. He was adopted at six weeks' old by Rick and Teresa Kaepernick from Fond Du Lac and has two siblings.

Kaepernick, who played college football with the Nevada Wolf Pack, was dragged into a racial controversy last week after a white sports columnist compared the tattooed player to residents of San Quentin state prison.
Sporting News writer David Whitley penned an article where he bemoaned the amount of tattoos that 25-year-old Kaepernick had on his body.
Claiming that the position of quarterback is hallowed and Kaepernick's body art brings it down in tone, Whitley said that because of his tattoos, the 49ers player can never be a legitimate hero.
But he later defended himself against accusations of racism, saying: 'If they were old enough to read, my two adopted African-American daughters would certainly be disappointed to find out I'm a racist.'
“It didn’t occur to me that admitting I’m not a fan of body art would be admitting I don’t like African-Americans.'
The furious response overwhelmed Whitley, who had to fend off accusations of racial profiling, prompting his editor-in-chief to take the unusual step of writing a defence of the opinion piece in which he admitted Whitley could have finessed certain points.
Whitley, who is the father of two adopted African-American daughters, was even criticised by Kaepernick's parents - who revealed that his tattoos are in fact verses from the Bible.

San Diego real estate mogul Marc Paskin is looking for love in a very unusual place: A highway billboard overlooking the 28th Street exit of the I-5.
"All I Want for Christmas is a Latina Girlfriend," reads the giant personal ad that includes an AOL email address for interested "Christmas Latinas."
Paskin, who has a net worth of some $200 million and may be familiar to some from his appearance on the ABC reality TV show Secret Millionaire (see video, left), lost his wife of 28 years to diabetes in 2002.
He had two adult children, three grandchildren, and resides in an oceanfront home in La Jolla (but also owns a house in Hawaii). Still not convinced? Here's what he told U-T San Diego about how he hopes to be remembered after passing on:

WTF Moment of the Week:DAD & DAUGHTER ARRESTED AFTER HAVING BABY TOGETHER
46-year-old George Sayers, Jr. and his daughter, 23-year-old Tiffany Hartford, both of Bethel are now behind bars accused of having an incestuous relationship, one that produced a baby.
A simple DNA test proved Tiffany’s father George was also the father of her now 2-year-old. “To consider her not to be a victim, not to be a victim is totally inappropriate. She was a victim and even though her behavior is no longer what society would consider appropriate, she’s been a terrible victim,” Dr. Ralph Welsh said.
Dr. Welsh does not know either the father or daughter and has never treated either one. He specializes in child abuse and says, though Tiffany Hartford is an adult at 23 he does not believe she should be facing charges.
Bethel police would not discuss the details of this case with News 8 but we know that it was Tiffany’s former girlfriend who first went to the authorities. Tiffany then told police she wants to become a porn star. Dr. Welsh says that’s not surprising. Victims of sexual assault often become hyper-sexual.
“Yeah, I’ve had several patients who wanted to be porn stars because that kind of legitimatized what had happened to them in their life,” Dr. Welsh said. In fact, the father George took video of her having sex with that former girlfriend who says Tiffany introduced George as her “husband father.”
George was selling that video for $40 as well as some suggestive pictures of his daughter for $5. That’s what angered the former girlfriend and brought her to police. Dr. Welsh says when you see this sort of disturbing behavior it’s often been passed down through the generations. “And I would like to know the history of the man. Very good possibility that he was sexually abused as a child, a very good possibility,” Dr. Welsh said.
It is not clear who is taking care of their baby.

October's Very Own, the label spearheaded by Drake, has inked a deal with Warner Bros. Records.
A rumored deal was first floated by Hits Daily Double on Tuesday (Dec. 4), and a source has confirmed the impending partnership to Billboard. More details are expected to be released on Wednesday.
Although Drake is signed as a solo artist to Universal through Young Money/Cash Money, he and his producer Noah "40" Shebib have long associated themselves with the October's Very Own brand. Drake has used the October's Very Own blog to premiere new music as well as sell branded clothing, and OVO Fest, the rapper's annual Toronto summer music festival, takes its name from the label.
In Feb. 2011, Rick Ross announced a partnership between Warner Bros. and his Maybach Music Group imprint. The label has since issued albums by Wale and Meek Mill, as well as a pair of MMG compilation LPs, while Ross has released his solo albums on Def Jam.
